Wish I had found this thread before subscribing to iTunes Match!!

Experienced the same as everyone above and find it extraordinary that Apple have not rectified whatever problem lies behind this.

Last night I disabled all running programs including my antivirus software and left it overnight to upload but woke up this morning to find, yet again, it had crashed.

The last shown track is not the same when it has crashed previously (it never has been the same track) so I can't say that my experience is a corrupt file that is causing the upset.

This has been my first sour taste of Apple when previously everything has just worked so well and the staff in the stores that I have spoken with are always over helpful when assisting me.

What is it with this product that causes so many issues?

    PS - I'm using Windows 7

Just thought I'd give an update.

I ran iTunes Match again. This time I didn't bother switching off any programs and carried on using my computer as per usual.

I ran iTunes with the Music / Songs view on display and added the iCloud Status field so that I could see any errors.

After a day or so the process has completed with just under 7000 tracks in the Cloud and no freezing of iTunes.

I have quite a few tracks showing as "Waiting" with a greyed out cloud icon with down pointing arrow beside them and another load of tracks with the status shown as "Uploaded" and the reaminder as "Matched".

Looking under the "Albums" section many do not have artwok.

What does Waiting actually mean if, as I believe, the tracks have succesfully uploaded and why do some tracks show Uploaded and not Matched?

Same issue with iTunes Match, it constantly craches when uploading my music/arts. Drives me crazy. For now it's unuseless for me because i have a half library in the cloud and a iTunes that's craches every time.

Sorry to hear that you're having some issues with iTunes Match.  Most of the problems you're running into have been addressed in this or other threads and the good news is most of them, if not all, can be resolved.  However it may take some proactive work on your part...and it looks like you've already started down the right path.

Learning how iTunes Match works would probably help as well:

    http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/ultimate_guide_using_itunes_match

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4914

With respect to some oddities surrounding songs that won't upload or missing artwork, here are some of my old posts that might help (from this and other threads):

    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16760668#16760668 (Last post)

    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16961816#16961816

"Matched" means that the same exact song/album is in Apple's iTunes library.  "Uploaded" means that the track had to be uploaded from your computer.  It's not unusual to find a mix of "Uploaded" and "Matched" songs within a single album:

    iTunes Match Mix.jpg

FWIW the initial release of iTunes Match was somewhat painful but with updates to the service and iTunes itself things are pretty good now.  With about 10,000 tracks on iTunes Match I've found that the only ones that caused me any trouble were the oddballs that I created from downloads, low bit rates, etc.  Generally if they are legit tracks there are no problems.  If you have something "rare", bootleg, etc. it's probably not going to work and may cause iTunes Match to fail.  I ended up moving about 30 or 40 tracks outside of iTunes when I was having trouble and since then everything's worked well.

    Hope that helps!

Happy to be of service...I know how frustrating these things can be.   If you still encounter issues later, don't hesitate to post the details!

To fix the problem of iTunes Match upload crashing, simply download a program called netoptimizer 3 this program will cap iTunes upload speed to stop it from crashing .

    in net optimiser,

find iTunes upload tick box in the list of program's and tick it.

In rule list choose edit rule and you will see a number (5120)

    .

and just to the right of that number you will see a small box

    in that box choose (mbits)

then change the number to (0.248)

.then run iTunes Match and your done.

remember be patient with the upload process.

On Windows 7 and with the latest version of iTunes i had the same problem, the only way to fix it for me was to check the task manager. There where two processess that were stressing the sistem, iTunes.exe and AppleMobileDevice.exe. Killing the second was the solution. Hope it helps.

ive tried practically all the soutions here and the only thing that worked (which i found somewhere else) is to delete "com.apple.iTunes.plist" you may have to delete it 3 times but eventually match completes and is now working.

im using windows 7 and found it here.

    C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Preferences

    close iTunes and delete "com.apple.iTunes.plist"

open iTunes wait for music match to complete if it crashes then repeat the whole process (took me three times.)

I was having similiar problems uploading songs to iTunes match. It turned out to be my internet connection. I happened to take my laptop to my parents' house, and iTunes Match worked perfectly, uploading all the songs that hadn't uploaded yet. My internet connection at home doesn't seem to be problematic, but I'm almost certain it was the issue. Try taking your computer to a friend's house and using their internet connection to upload your music.

Good advice winr11.  I've also seen numerous posts talking about virus protection programs being the culprit.  Turning off virus protection during the initial iTunes sync has helped others as well.

I bought Music Match today. I am beyond frustrated. I have two computers that have libraries on them that I am uploading to the cloud. My first one did fine. My second one keeps crashing. I am too tired to read through all of your suggestions tonight, but I plan to tomorrow or this weekend. I am exhausted from dealing with it. Apple has such fantastic products; why can't this be up to their standards? (Rhetorical question)

How frustrating.  Assuming both computers are on the same account?

FWIW I have my wife's Mac mini, my iMac and my MacBook Air all synced with iTunes Match so it does work.  My iMac was the "master source" so before I turned iTunes Match on I made sure all of our library was on it (had to move some content that was only on the wife's mini to the iMac).  I matched the iMac first then I wiped everything from iTunes on the mini and the MBA and added them to iTunes Match afterward.  Now all (plus our iPad and iPhones) have the same content.  As noted above it can still be glitchy but it works pretty well for the most part...at least for us.

There are some good options for getting things to work posted earlier on this thread.  Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

Nice theory on "error" songs, but I think that's irrelevant. In my case, the only songs listed as ERROR are purchases I made from iTunes last week. Specifically, Jeff Wayne's new version of the "War of the Worlds".  Since that album was purchased from Apple, iTunes has no business trying to upload it at all.

I think I've got this pretty much figured out. It still freezes up at times but I have 3 iPhones, 2 iPads and 2 computers all synced to the cloud with Music Match and working properly, sharing songs and sharing one account. I really do not know why it was giving me so much trouble initially, but thank goodness it's working! Thank you for your response to my post, richsadams.
