    Hi

Things got even worse before Apple did anything!!

Apple initially refused to exchange the machine telling me if it went wrong one more time then they would replace it, despite the long list of faults already. A few days later the same problem (never went away) got worse - I took it back in and they finally agreed to order a replacement. In the meantime they told me to keep using the machine till the replacement arrived. I think 3 days later the I was working on the mac and then it went bang (not very loud) - the screen went black and all function died. That was the end of that cursed/elegantly beautiful machine. I honestly think the problem is with the venting system - I think these machines can't cool down but I'm no expert. Interesting that the newer machines have air vents in the body casing.

To be fair Apple were true to their word (albeit grudgingly) & a replacement arrived - though it just doesn't have the same beauty - firstly it's 15in not 17, you have to plug in an external DVD drive! I'm not impressed with the retina screen - no big difference for the average user.

Now trying to get my apple care protection plan money refunded was whole new dilemma - you won't believe what I went through!

Good luck with your machine. In my humble opinion if it's under warranty take it back!

    Hi drjawad

I have been told the same. My 3rd replacement macbook pro has already undergone replacement of logic board twice is less than a year! And now i have even got my ssd replaced. I will call them and see what can be done.

    Hi AceNeerav

Good luck with your mac. As for me I've decided no matter what happens after my current mac, this is my last apple product ever! I just don't rate apple's quality anymore. When a company grows too big it ends up cutting corners and downgrading its quality control in the bid to increase its profits - so we the customers suffer.

Agreed. I realized it the very hard way after 3 mbp replacements, 3 iphone replacements, 15 repairs of mbp, 1 ipod nano replacement, 5 earphone replacements. And now already my second gen airport express is acting gay.

I guess i was too awestruck with the apple and s. jobs pheomenon. It will be difficult adopting another eco system, but its an impending move.

I sent mine to apple and they replaced the logic board free of charge. So it still cost me the 50 bucks to send it in. So far the issue is gone! Good luck guys.

Not sure what's causing my macbook to freeze. It's stange in that I can click windows to bring them to the front, open spotlight, but nothing actually happens. Just beachball time.

Hi titanium x have you tried running disk utility and verifying your hard drive? I have to do this once every month has there is always errors on the drive which cause the beach ball to appear!

I turned on my Macbook Pro, (also think mine is a 2010 Series - Still Running Snow Leopard) instantly I went to chrome and googled "My macbook pro keeps freezing" because I am having the exact same issues as the original poster of this thread and what "Vintage77" said.

As I was reading Vintage's post, my Macbook Pro froze. So I held in my power button and restarted, once it started up, I went straight into Energy Saver Preferences and did what he did. (Un-Tick "Automatic graphics switching") and my Macbook Pro has not froze since.

Going from what Gman001 (Original Thread Starter) said, the sensor being at fault on the logic board. When the graphics try switching whilst on Auto, it seems to fail and cause your Macbook Pro to freeze.

So I advise you all to do what "Vintage77" Said.

    It worked for me!

    And... Now it's freezing again.

I won't buy an Apple Product again. Sorry

About 2 months ago my 2010 15 inch i7 MBP started to display the same issues. My screen would lock up, and the fans would go crazy.  After a hard and legnthly restart it would be fine for a little while.

It does not matter if I'm running one application or ten. I found a free application that will stop the MPB from switching from the Intergrated Intel 3000 HD Graphics, to the much faster Radion.  When I run with the Intel graphis I have no issues. Its a shame I paid an extra $800 for the 1gh Radion option
