This is the only solution that worked for me. Signing in and out of the store did nothing. Thanks vraveen!

Oh and Apple, this really stinks and is a huge issue. Has anyone at the company read this thread?

    andrewfawcett, I agree.

Folks who read both the iTunes Windows & iTunes Mac (I have a new MacBook Pro) all have the same problem:

when importing a CD, as we all have been since the beginning of iTunes, it normally appears *both* in the iTunes SmartPlaylist "recently added", and should ALSO appear in your own "Music" library.

For Apples benefit, and to be clear, what is happening is that the imported CD is NOT showing up in the "Music" library. Nor in "Search Library".

To be clear: the problem occurring is that iTunes *does* properly:

-rip all tracks to an appropriate folder, appropriately located in the iTunes folder (look in Finder to verify)

-list all these tracks in "recently added"

-allow you to play the tracks from "recently added" as you can from any other play list.

What iTunes is NOT doing properly:

-iTunes is NOT showing these tracks in the music library

-iTunes is NOT showing that they exist at all if you use search.

I have tried all the "supposed" workarounds, and the ONLY consistency across all of them is the following:

-Some recommend cancel & sign out of match, and then sign in again -- that works

-I suggest a simpler approach: SIMPLY SELECT "UPDATE ITUNES MATCH" and viola, the tracks will appear in the library when done.

APPLE: please fix this -- this will drive the average consumer crazy. "I imported my CD so I could use it & it's not there" -- this has been going on for months.

Please, please pay attention to this & offer us a fix in 11.0.X (NOT fixed 11.0.1 (12))

Thanks carSF, that was very thorough and the EXACT problem I was having. Imported songs will play from the search bar, but don't show up in the library for hours/days.

I tried to quit iTunes and re-open several times. Re-starting does nothing. PATIENCE was the only thing that worked. They just showed up randomly about 30 minutes after importing. I could physically SEE the files in the folder. I tried to go to my apple account (through iTunes) and it won't connect. Not sure if that's affiliated in some way(?) My internet is fine. After quitting a few more times and re-opening it's finally working.

iTunes you seriously need to fix this. The new iTunes is absolutely terrible, and I'm quickly losing patience with it.

    This worked for me:

Find your added songs in your playlists (you'll find them there)

    Select them

Right click and 'Make version for MP3'

As a little miracle you'll now find the album in your album and number-tab.

The album now contains two versions of each song. Delete one and the album remains.

    After traying almost ALL of the solutions mentioned in other posts the only solution that seemed to work was by;

    - Highlighting the songs in "recently added"

    - Right clicking and select "Create AAC Version"

This showed the previously missing songs in the itunes library, as well as other albums that were previously missing (not sure if this was a coincidence or not). There were however two versions of the vonverted AAC songs. I simply selected the copies and deleted each song.

A pain in the *** but a solution that WORKES to what otherwise seems like an ongoing problem.

I was having the same problem and tried every single solution mentioned previously in this thread. None worked until I tried Randido's.

I hope Apple comes up with a fix soon. It's been six weeks of this nonsense; if they'd at least acknowledge they are aware of it and working on a fix, I'd accept that.

Indeed Ralf, with issues like this there is little surprise Apple is losing Brand equity and loyalty. uity/

I'm discouraged to see that everyone else seems to be able to see new imports in Recently Added and to put new music into a playlist.  I can't even get that far.  No matter which way I try to add music, nothing happens.  iTunes will pop up, but songs won't import.  I've tried just about every method suggested here - signing in and out, closing and opening iTunes, opting out of Match, clearing caches, etc. - and nothing has worked.  And I first discovered this problem last night, so it isn't looking like iTunes is just slow to add them.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I'm having the same basic problems as the original poster.  iTunes 11 (latest patch) on OS X Lion (latest patch).  My iTunes library is on a mounted network hard drive.

A little over a month ago, though, I started having some problems.  Some things work just fine (a collection of old MP3 audiobooks imported just fine, along with iTunes store purchases).  For other files, such as DRM-free MP3 files I got from Amazon or Handbrake MP4 rips from my DVDs, when I go to add them to the library, nothing happens -- no progress meter and the files do not show up in Recently Added or in the Library.

What's odd is that it only happened with some files (e.g., why could I import the audiobook files?  Was it because they were on a disk and not on the hard drive?)

I've tried absolutely everything as well.  Now I'm trying Randido's approach.  Fingers crossed.  Nothing else has worked so far.  This is super, super annoying.

I rarely had any problems with itunes until itunes 11. I was having problems importing a folder of music files to the library. I tried two or three times and the files would not appear in my library. I turnes itunes off and on two times and that didn't resolve the issue. Finally I imported another file, then that appeared along with the previous album I was trying to import.

    This fixed it for me:

Go into preferences and uncheck "Show iTunes in the cloud purchases"

I then had to import one of the songs that wasn't showing up and they all appeared.

    Hope this helps!

thank you so much! this is the only way for me to solve the problem too... And I think only creating the AAC version for one of the missing songs might be enough:) then all the missing ones will just pop up in the library. Apple please fix the bug, it's killing me!! Before this I've waited for almost 12 hours and nothing happened O_O

I ended up trashing itunes 11 and going back to 10.6.3 - it's much more user-friendly
