Hi Matt_Ozzie and the rest of the community,
First of, I would like to ask if there are people who are/were having the problem of only being able to connect their iphone 5 from a few feet from the router as a consequence of updating to IOS 6.02 and if anyone having this problem managed to "fix/solve" this by reinstalling/resetting software?
From what I 've read here it seems that the people having this problem were able to "solve" it by having their iphone replaced. So if there is someone that has/had this issue and managed to fix it by means of software please speak out!
Here's my story: I bought 3 white iPhones 5, two of them 16gb and one 64gb version. All three are A1428 models.
All three were updated to 6.02 since the very 1st moment and at the same time. All three worked well. Now, after 2 weeks only the 64gb iPhone 5 is having wifi issues! I can't connect to both of my 2.4ghz linksys routers unless I'm close to them. I do get quite well signal from far, same as the other two iPhones 5 but can't connect to either router.
Is it a software issue or a hardware one?
I live in Argentina and there are no apple stores here! That means I will have to wait to July when I comeback to the states. I'm really hoping its a software issue and that the next 6.1 ops update will do the trick.

I got a replacement unit because the iPhone 5 I bought in December 2012 started getting wifi problems after two weeks or so. Yet the replacement is now showing exactly the same wifi problem after two weeks again! It keeps dropping out from wifi networks when other devices connect just fine! I tried all the 'fixes' I could find but none of them actually works!
Apple, please do something and if it's a hardware problem, you need to recall the product! I have bought 3 iphones, 2 imacs and 2 macbooks in the past 10 years but I won't be buying your stuff ever again!
Hi there I have exactly the two weeks problem -- things went well in the first two weeks but then all of a sudden without any software or hardware change, the iPhone 5 could only connect when it was just a few feets away from the wifi router! I tried both iOS6.0.1 and iOS 6.0.2 and it was the same sorry story!
I read all the posts and have the same issues with my iPhone 5.
When I got my 1st iPhone from Vodafone (Germany), it had no porblems with the WLAN connection, but a battery issue. I upgraded the Firmware to iOS 6.0.2 and it totaly died - no battery life, no wifi. So I took it to the Apple Store in Hamburg and got a new one. The service guy told me that the battery issue is a known one. Funny how the new iPhone 5 with iOS 6.0.1 had no WLAN problems at all... And stupid me: installed iOS 6.0.2.... Mistake.
So now i have a good battery life and no WLAN. I can connect to my home network but there is no data transfer at all. Same thing at work or other wifi networks.
So: If your iPhone with iOS 6.0.1 doesn't have any problems: DO NOT INSTALL iOS 6.0.2., maybe it's better to wait for a new firmware version.
Anyway: I'm taking this piece of sh*t to the Apple store again and having it replaced. Again.
Um, yeah, this issue started on my brand new 4S (shipped with 6.0.1) after like 4 days. At least that's when I noticed it. Started dropping wifi first, switching over to monumentally slow "4G" (whatever that means...does the 4 mean it takes 4 minutes to get what I could get in 3 minutes on 3G? Now I've gone from a grayed-out wifi on/off switch to "unable to scan for wireless networks" to every other variant posted in this thread. My beat-up old iPhone 4 works great on the same networks, at the same time, right next to the new P.O.S.
I've tried EVERY SINGLE stupid fix on the web. At the end of the day it HAS TO BE SOFTWARE that wants to do something that isn't quite right. Since I'm still within my 2-week warranty, I'm going to exchange it, because why not...I'll try voodoo at this point.
I had same issues as all of you with my new iPhone 5...just solved the problem today!
Go to>Settings > Wi-Fi > Choose a Network
When iPhone says "Unable to connect..." click right forward arrow along side the network you want.
At the top of that next page, click "Forget this Network"
Then, go back to Wi-Fi page, click Wi-Fi to OFF, then back to ON.
When you see your Network come up again, reselect it, there should be an area to enter the password.
Hope this works for everyone, it worked for me!
I got my iPhone 5 at the end of December 2012, it had iOS 6.0.1 on it when I got it. My girlfriend and I got the iPhone 5 at the same time, we are on the same plan. Both our phones worked great until I updated to iOS 6.0.2. Now it is almost always impossible to connect to any wifi network. Even when I can connect (momentarily) I cannot receive any data, I have to disconnect and use my cell service to go online. My girlfriend's iPhone 5, which still has 6.0.1 can use the full bandwidth allowed by the wifi router according to the speedtest.net app. Also, after about 8 hours of normal use, my battery reads about 10%, while hers reads about 90%. I have messed around with my router settings, and all the devices in my house work, except my iPhone 5 with iOS 6.0.2. I have no reason to believe that this is a hardware issue, it must be software. I wish Apple would allow me to revert back to iOS 6.0.1, but that would make me a bad sheep.
I bought my iPhone 5 at the end of November last year. I started to have problems with a weak wifi signal on my iPhone 5 about three weeks ago. Even though it was near my airport extreme, even at wifi hotspots, even though my iPad was showing all bars, my iPhone showed would only show one bar. Then, this morning, I had to switch over my language setting to Japanese for my wife. After resetting it back to English, it was showing all bars again!! Don't know if it will last, but after getting no useful help from Apple it certainly is better than nothing.
Me too have the same problems as yours. Does anybody from apple have a solution/s to our concerns regarding this matter?? It would be much appreciated if it would be resolve as soon as possible. There is no apple store here in our place. I already reset the router and the phone to resolve the problem but nothing happens same old problem still exist. Iv tried all the solutions stated here in the apple community but not 1 of it solve my problem.
Apple is keeping their mouth shut, they won't admit to mistakes, they don't make mistakes. I wouldn't be so angry if they simply said " Sorry about the software bug, while we work on fixing the issue feel free to revert back to iOS 6.0.1." I don't understand their obsession with restrictions and their need to control what every Apple product user does with their device. The only Apple products I've owned were iPhones, and I think this will be my last.
