Hi!

I am wondering if it is possible to install plugins from previous versions of garageband into the newer versions of Garageband?

I got to love the multiband compressor that came with Garagband 3, but am not a fan of the compressor in GB5.

Is there any way to install the old style into GB5?

..and is the old AUmultiband compressor available for download anywhere?

Many thanks

GarageBand '09, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

The Apple AU plugins are part of the System installation, not GB. The MultiBand compressor is still available, and as far as I know it hasn't changed. You are not forced to use the standard compressor, you can put the MultiBand on a free effects slot.

No - since it's the old plugin and GB only put a new graphical interface on it, you can only get it back by going back to an older GB version.

(And even that might not be true - I just opened an old GB version, put the MultiBandCompressor on a fee slot and got the same new interface. Personally, I like the new graphic version better, the old one only had numbers that you cold enter, right?)

i think you're out of luck, those effects are part of the OS' coreAudio, i believe. GB makes a call to the system, and the OS supplies the effect and interface.

i'm not sure, but i think the change may have come between 10.5 and 10.6 (i no longer have a 10.5 machine to check, but maybe someone else does?)
