My configuration is as follows,
Mac Pro 5,1
10GB 1333mHz RAM running at 1066Mhz (the reason to purchase a new processor that reads up to 1333)
EVGA GTX 670 2GB 256Bits
1TB main HDD and 2 other secondary HDD with 1TB each
Original W3530 Intel Xeon processor
I am pretty aware on how computers work as I work building them for large and medium sized companies but I am just not so familiarized with the Mac just yet, and its own architecture.
BTW... what is 1200 dollars over there, isnt exactly 2x more in brazil. The X5650 costs 4999 reals here in my country when it should cost only 1200, 1500 tops...
An unfair world... yes, very

I bought the mac with the basic configuration and went updating it as time went by.
The EVGA card I bought from a friend at a relatively low price and i gave me a HUGE boost in performance from the original 5770 1GB card.
That IS a good idea.. but in Brazil, taxes are incredibly high and i believe that even buying abroad would make the chip more expensive.... but i will try to find it on ebay though..
