- Do you have iTunes 11 on the computer? Yo need iTunes 10.7 or later.
- Does the 5G iPod charge?- Try another cable. Some 5G iPod were shipped with defective cables.

got i tunes 11 on the computer, and tried another cable, it worked when we first set up the ipod, but dosent work now when i connect the ipod, it makes the compter noises when its connected or disconnected, but wont show everything else shows, nano shuffle and iphone 4.

Since you said the iTunes sees the iPhone 4, you either have an iPod touch problem or a bad cable. Some users have had their Lightning cable fail shortly after first successful use.
