Try creating a new user account on your Mac, and then login to your iCloud account. If this works, then there could be a corrupt setting somewhere in your account (which we can track down).

Go to System Preferences -> Users & Groups
Your will see a list of current Users on the left-hand side. Click on teh "+" that is underneath the list to create a new user account. Set it up as a Standard user account and give it a password.
Then switch to this new acocunt by using the "Fast User Switching" menu (next to the spotlight icon), or by logging out of your existing account and into the new.
