I cannot log into my iCloud account since installing the new OS X Mountain Lion

Ever since upgrading to Os X Mountain Lion, I have been unable to log into my iCloud account. It refuses to sync anything and I am getting frustrated. I can log in through an internet browser window, but not through the iCould account preferences window. Please help!

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
