Irritating iPod / iTunes problem

Hello all,

 

I'm hoping someone will be able to advise...

 

When I connect my iPod Classic to iTunes for syncing, despite the fact that I have "Sync Music" and then "Entire Music Library" ticked, it sometimes (well, more often than not!) - seemingly of its own accord - decides to change, with no interference by me, to an UNTICKED "Manually Manage Music and Videos" and the "Sync Music" box and the Sync Movies" box on their respective tabs...!

 

So, I have to untick the "Manually Manage Music and Videos" and re-tick both the "Sync Music" and then "Entire Music Library" boxes. Then I click "Apply".

 

This then incurs that it asks me if I 'really want to erase and re-sync?' (or words to that effect). I have no choice but to say "Yes" otherwise I won't be able to make the required changes from my iTunes to my iPod.

 

Therefore, it then commences to erase, update my iPod and then re-fill my iPod with the whole library... which takes 2-3 hours to do...!!!

 

Is this a problem with iTunes? It never used to do this with older versions of iTunes.

 

Can anyone please advise?
