I'm Canadian, visiting USA for a short period.  Have only used wi-fi so far but will be using cellular connectivity for the first time in the US.  How do I know which service to use, AT &T or Verizons?

I just went to my Canadian service provider and purchased a one month talk and text package for the US.   I'm with Fido and was able to do that through their web on-line chat. (I could have called them also).  Rogers/Fido have a relationship with ATT.

It just shows up on your next billing cycle or if you are with Fido you can use your Fido dollars to buy a US package.

I only use the ATT service for US calls, I also use Fongo which allows me to call back to Canada free.

    Cheers

You're going to need to use AT&T. Verizon doesn't have a GSM network.

That's just nuts that Videotron told you that.  Here is the Videotron US offer for phones and tablets.
