I don't think it's due to a defect because I noticed that on mine, too. How is yours now?

I had the same problem with mine for a while when I got it. My tip: Let it Charge over night, so it has been fully charged the whole night. Then, the next time you charge it, see how it does, because sometimes it takes a little while for the battery to calibrate, especially on new apple devices.

That's what I've been doing but it still won't behave normally. I also noticed that the touch screen refuses to respond normally when I'm playing games or typing a message while charging the ipod. When I'm trying to input something, it's showing the wrong output of what I touch on the screen, like it's crazy. It's very noticeable and makes me feel uncomfortable knowing my 5th gen is like this. How can I fix this? Is it a bug? An iOS problem that can be fixed on its next update? And if by chance that I'm just having the same problem as what you had, how long did it take before your ipod was able to recharge normally?

Hmm. What version of IOS 6 are you running? I have the latest, and have not had a single problem. I have no idea at this point, as that past solution has worked for all my friends who had it. You are the first person I have encountered in which it hasn't worked. It could be the games you run, it could be what you use it for, if you use it to play games WHILE its charging, thats a problem, because its putting strain on the battery. You need to let your iPod charge, THEN play with it, listen to music, etc. The strain on the battery could destroy it over time.

I think I know the problem now. I'm using the 10w power adapter for iPad. I went to the store awhile ago where I bought it from and they replaced it with a better one. "Better" because there are instances that it's still a little laggy when I'm recharging it. But it's pretty ignorable now. It works smoothly with a samsung adapter, though, which is why I knew I had a problem with the adapter. But it doesn't matter now that I learned that I should just leave it be when it's recharging. Thanks for the help and the info!
