    Yes.

On a computer, go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and select "Manage your Apple ID". Log in with your Apple ID and password, then select Name, ID, and Email Addresses from the left column. Next to Apple ID and Primary Email Address select Edit.

Enter a valid email address. This will be your new Apple ID.

Make sure you new Apple ID meets the criteria then select Save Changes.

This answer is not correct. I have tried changing my Apple ID, which is the primary email address, to my new icloud email address and even though it says it is a valid email address, and it says it was successfully changed, it does not change from the old email address and Apple ID.

I would really like to change my ID, but I'm losing hope...

Despite what you saw you may not use an address with a domain owned by Apple for an Apple ID. This obviously includes an iCloud email address.

You can change your Apple ID to anything that complies with the above. Apple IDs ending in mac.com or me.com cannot be changed. No "edit" link will appear for them.

The answer IS correct.  An apple id can only be changed to an address that's not already associated with an apple id.

Apple has some work to do on that form field check then... It says that it's a valid email address, and their own form should know if, even if it's a valid email address, it's their domain.

    Ah, well. Life goes on.

John Galt - The graphic under point 3 on the link you refer to is no longer current. The new web page\form, has the Apple ID AND Primary Email Address on the same line now...

I should add that I want to move away from the email address that is used as my Apple ID and primary email address. I have alternate email addresses in my profile.

Very soon, the primary email address I have listed will no longer work. I wonder then, what will happen tousing this  messages sent from Apple to my old email address.

I realize they have increased security by using this configuration, but user IDs should be editable in my opinion.

Which link are you referring to? What is point 3? Never mind - I see you mean the KB article graphic. Yes it's outdated. I will bring it up at the next shareholder's meeting.

User ids, which is your apple id, is editable.  Just meet the criteria.

I can change my apple ID on my computer, but when I try to login on my iphone 4, it uses my old Apple ID, how do I change ID on phone?  I tried so many many times and everytime it still brings up my old ID and what is strange, that old email ID is no longer valid.

Anyone smart enough to help me, I have tried everything I know to try...

    Thanks

Settings > iTunes & App store.

Tap your account name, sign out then sign back in.
