The only way to get photos into Events is to import them. Not sure what you are referring to when you are indicating MobileMe albums? Where are these albums located?

If files are in an Album then they are already in an Event.
Select a pic in this Album and Right-Click on it. Choose 'Show Event' from the menu. This will bring you to the Event containing the photo.

Not sure of what happened when, but these are all photos that I had posted to MobileMe. When Apple discontinued that service, all of those pictures ended up in a folder called MobileMe. Maybe I did that, or maybe that was something Apple did, don't recall.

Aha, so at least now I found the event. (command-click being the equivalent for right-click to then show the event) Turns out that all those photos which were in MobileMe are now in a single event spanning 12 years. It will take a bit of organizing to get them where they belong. Feels to me like this is something that happened in the transition from MobileMe to iCloud. What is peculiar is that I had some particular events from 2008 which I discovered where missing a bunch of photos. I discovered them in the MobileMe folder but couldn't find them in events because this one massive event is 8 years from the one I was looking in and hence way torwards the beginning of my events. It is called "From MobileMe". I just had never noticed it before.
