Diesel--I did everything you're talking about, including setting up iCloud control panel and it still didn't save the pictures and videos. I have everything else. My contacts, notes, reminders, songs and apps are all on icloud but it didn't save the pictures and videos. For me, the phone is worthless/useless without the pictures and videos. Even if I had lost everything else....I would have been fine with that because you can replace it. You can't however, replace the photos and videos of your kids or pictures of the day you spent with your father who's fighting a battle with cancer, when you spent a really great day with them. I went to the Apple store to speak with someone they have the audacity to call a "genius" and he wouldn't even look at my PC or phone...wouldn't even look when I asked. He simply gave me the status quote that I needed to restore to original settings. These aren't geniuses. They are customer service reps with scripted remedies to consumer complaints. And Railroad is correct. If you aren't going to offer helpful advice, then don't comment at all.

That works automatically for me. Personally, when I set up new features I test them to make sure they work. I never assume something just works.
I suspect the photostream was not actually enabled on the device, if it had been, regardless of it appearing/uploading on the pc the pictures would be recovered when setting the device back up and enabling iCloud. Videos are not included with photostream.

Exactly. No one is disagreeing with you on this point. What I find baffling is that someone would attempt a software update on a device without first ensuring that the important pictures and videos on the device were backed up. Choosing not to do so proves just how important that content really was... in other words, not very.

Of course not, they do not support pc's, they support Apple devices.
Honestly, I'm not sure why several here seem to believe there is a magical fix to recover the content. Apple provides several warnings to encourage users to backup their own content. You chose to ignore those and take a chance. Now, unfortunately the only option is to live with the consequences.

Railroad82--Just wanted you to know that I found a helpful soul on another discussion thread who provided me a link to www.wondershare.com to purchase software called dr.fone. I was able to successfully recover all my data from my iphone4s including all my pictures and videos, everything. I am very disappointed that after speaking with multiple support providers in Applecare, and two hours spent at the Apple store, which included speaking to two "geniuses", I was given no options other than to restore to original settings. With wondershare I recovered all data in less than 5 minutes. The software was worth every penny, even though Apple should have been able (and I'm sure has the capability) of providing this service. I even had a real person to talk me through the whole process and I didn't have to wait on hold forever. Hope its something that might work you. Good luck to you!

I have the same problem, well the same two problems really, I got a new pc and installed itunes to enable me to back up my iphone but there was a problem during the sync and now I have lost all my photo's of my new born baby girl. So the pictures of the first ten days of her life have been lost! The second problem is people posting pointless and unhelpful comments about what we should have done, which are also innacurate as what I should have done is not buy and iphone as the software is rubbish, buggy and relies on you buying all their stuff.....
I thankful that someone has been helpful enough to supply a link to another site which may help though!
