Hi,

I'm fairly new to the home recording world, and to GarageBand.  Currently, I'm recording through an M-Audio FastTrack.

Basically, I'm having a problem with individual track volumes.  I'll set a track for, say, guitar or bass, at about 0 dB.  But while playing, the track will randomly jump up to the max, 6 dB.  I've tried turning down the Guitar Gain and Output knobs on the FastTrack itself, as I thought maybe the signal was running too loud and maybe having an impact that way?  I have no idea if that makes sense.

I'm running through a couple pedals (BBE Sonic Stomp and an MXR Bass D.I.+), which I'm thinking may be pushing the levels a bit high as well, but I don't see exactly why this would impact things.

Anyone have any suggestions?  It's hard to record through things when my the track I'm recording suddenly spikes louder than the metronome.

Thanks guys

Are there any other tracks in the song or is this the only track?
