My Calendar on my iMac doesn't update when syncing with iPhone (the most updated device on my Calender), even though it then updates after I sync my iPad? By this I mean it updates the system on my iMac because it then passes it onto my iPad. Help PLEASE??????

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

    Hi pjmarri,

Do you have the System Preferences on your Mac set up to keep your Calendar in sync via iCloud? If you turn that option on, it should keep your calendar up to date without even requiring a sync:

Click on the Apple in the upper left-hand corner>System Preferences>Mail, Contacts, & Calendars - make sure Calendars & Reminders is checked.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply, however I have had much trouble with iCloud and MobileMe syncing in the past so am not interested in that at the moment. I simply sync my phone and iPad with my desktop to keep them all together. The problem is just recently it dosen't reflect in my iMac even though the iPad which I sync after picks the updates up.

So, the "Sync Calendars" box is checked on the iPhone Info tab in iTunes, right?

Yes it is ticked and "don't sync events older than" is NOT ticked. Every thing is as it has always been except now it doesn't update the Calendar on the iMac.

    Thanks for your continued interest.

pjmarri, have you received a soliution yet?  I am having the same problem and I didn't notice it until I missed an important appearance last week, because my calendar updates were not uploaded from my mac to my ipad.  Then I realized that most of my calendar appointments didn't transfer from my mac to the ipad.  I've rebooted, resynced, etc., to no avail.  Super frustrating since I run my office from these two devices. I now have to go through my entire calendar/client list and double check every appointment to ensure I have them all listed in both calendars.  I specifically purchased Apple products so I wouldn't have to go through this process!  I really need this fixed ASAP.   (Sorry for venting - I'm seriously frustrated!) I'm going to attempt fixing this one more time.

Okay....I was just going to hit send on this when, just this minute, I received a software update on my ipad for icloud, which I didn't want to use. However, I set up icloud on the ipad and lo and behold, my mac calendar synced with the ipad...the data transfered. Whew! It looks like the ipad calendar will NOT update without using icloud. (Still not pleased that I've just wasted an entire day on office work rather than billable hours.)  Did you receive an update for your iphone?

    Thanks,

    Kristen

    Hi Peter,

What is throwing me is that you have indicated that your updates on the phone don't update your Mac when you sync, but the updates do show up on the iPad after you sync it. So, I'm curious - are you certain that you do not have iCloud turned on for your iPhone and iPad?

If you did, then it might make some sense. Still don't understand (not you, but the issue) why the sync with your phone wouldn't visibly be updating your Mac Calendar, but really not getting how your iPad would get updated....

I've looked through several support articles, and unfortunately, they all are geared toward iCloud sync problems.

So, if you feel like it, could you let me know whether or not you may have iCloud turned on for your iPhone and iPad? This is just so strange....

    Cheers,

    Hi Kristen,

I would strongly advise using iCloud for syncing Calendars, Notes, Contacts, etc. I use Notes to write my shopping list all the time, and I do it on my Mac because I'm not a big fan of little keyboards. I have iCloud, and I always see my notes on my iPhone within minutes (if not seconds) of creating or updating them on my Mac (as well as on my iPad).

I hope you have continued success now that you have iCloud set up!

    Hi Gail,

Yes it is strange, I have iCloud turned on for other things but not Calendar on either iPhone or iPad. This only started happening about 3 weeks ago and I feel it may be something  to do with cache or something. Maybe I need to ring Apple. I am hoping a software update will fix it.

As a history, I have had bad experiences with MobileMe and also iCloud doubling up on old events in my Calendar and also, probably MobileMe, it having trouble with the time zone I live in and duplicating and changing times of things.

Thanks for you interest and help.

    Regards, Peter

    Hi Peter,

Well sorry we couldn't find a solution to the problem (or even figure out how it is happening). I hope you are able to resolve this soon. I can imagine that it is extremely frustrating!

If you have anything else you want to work on for this, just post back, and we can go at it!

    Cheers,
