Q: Why is iCloud downgrade option greyed out?
I've just noticed that my iCloud account is set to 25GB, which means I'll have a paid renewal at some point even though I'm using <1GB space.
I've tried downgrading it, but the '5GB Free' option is greyed out.
What's going on?
a. I don't know why I'm on the 25GB plan in the first place.
b. Why can't I downgrade?
I have a suspicion that Apple upgraded me for a year as a freebie (as an ex-mobile me user?), but that's done me no favours if I don't need it & can't get onto the free plan.

You have an increased storaghe allowance because you were (presumably) a MobileMe subscriber who had purchased increased storage. As a concession arising from this you have been given complimentary extra iCloud storage.
This concession will run until the end of Septembere at which point it will revert to 5GB; the reason that downgrading is greyed out is that it is already implemented to take place at that point. If you don't want to continue with the extra storage you need take no action. You will not be charged anything without your specic consent.
