I was wondering if Sony Camcorders are iMovie and Final Cut compatible.   I'm considering buying a Sony HDR-CX260V/B.

Also, I've read that the Canon camcorders have poor battery performance which is why I'm leaning towards the Sony product.

Thanks for any advice.

Just tried it, Sony HDR-CX260V doesn't work at 60p or 60i on iMovie, but it does work at 60i with HD quality on FinalCut Pro. iMovie doesn't support 60p or 60i, so you would have to record in 30p mode. The Sony HDR-CX260V doesn't offer the 30p in HD, you would have to switch to standard definition (not HD), to get 30p and be able to import it in iMovie.

iMovie supports 60i just fine. Sorry it isnt working for you.

If you can't get the 60i to import, try deleting the 60P material from the card (after you have archived it) and try again.
