Q: Temp fix for iOS 6 not pushing Exchange mail

All,

If you are reading this, you are probable having the same problem as I am:

After you switched to the iPhone 5, Exchange mail is no longer PUSHing to your device.  I have done testing and this problem affects:

1) iPhone 5's running connecting to Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2010 servers.

This does not effect:

1) my iPhone 4S running iOS 6 Beta 6.0 10A5376e

Troubleshooting:

1) Wiped phone and started with completely fresh iOS 6 on my iPhone 5. The only thing I did was add my exchange account.

-Still had same issue.

** How to fix this issue:

1. Go to Mail, Contacts, and Calendar.  Click "Fetch New Data".  Make sure push is on.

2.  Go back to Mail, Contact, and Calendar.  Click on your exchange account. Click on "Days to Sync".  Even if it is set to what you want this on, chance it to a different setting (i.e. 1 week).  You can change this back later, but this is the only way to fix it.

3. Go back to Mail COntact and Calendar.  Click on "Show".  No matter what this setting is on, change it to a different setting. (i.e. 100 recent messages).

4.  Reboot your iPhone 5

5.  Exchange PUSH will be working now.

Thanks,

Clay

Unbelievable!  Not acknowledging the issue, then having a customer support person contact me, ask me information back in Nov., all to never follow up with me, and make me follow this forum everyday for any information is just awful customer service.  now we are into yet another ios update and it still isn't fixed.  So disappointed with their total lack of service in this instance, that im pretty sure i'm done with the iphone.  Just shelled out major $$ for this thing last year.   Apple actually WAS one of those rare and incredible companies that i used to think truly valued their customers.  I really am naive.  I do know that I could care less about upgrading my mac book as i had been planning to this year as well.

apple will lose more in the long run.  Much more than they would have if they just admitted there is an issue and they just cant find the solution at this time.  No faith in them at this point.

I spent hours collecting data for them last fall. Then repeated the entire process after they discovered they'd sent  bad 'profiles' that didn't work. Nothing back. I told them the next time they wanted me to do their work for them it would be at our standard billing rate of $140/hour.

That said, push has been working all day for me, ever since I got 6.1 installed. It's like a whole new phone.

Same here; it has been working flawlessly since today's update. Even after going back and fort from wifi, 3G and LTE (iPhone 5 Verizon)

If you are having problems with Push, did you try Restoring and setting up as a "New Phone"?

It could be something in your settings that you are restoring that is bad.

Try 6.1 setup as a new phone.

So far, it runs really great on the iPhone 5.

Push is working on LTE and WiFi for me (12 hours so far).

I need to, as they say in politics, "walk-back" (i.e., take back) my post in which I stated push worked for 'almost 2 hours'.  Push appears to have worked through the night and into this morning during transitions between work wifi, LTE, home wifi, LTE and work wifi.

My statement from yesterday was based on minute or two delay between receiving an exchange email on my work PC via outlook and the email appearing on the iPhone.  I didn't ever recall there being this sort of delay with my 4, so I assumed I was back to the push failing again.

I continue to hold my breath, though.

I installed the update yesterday and have been going for approximately 24 hours now with no issues.  Push is working fine so far including through transitions between 3G, LTE and two different WiFi networks.  I have been sending myself periodic test emails and they all show up on my phone before they show up in my Outlook inbox which is consistent with how my 4S worked before.

My phone never went more than 15 minutes or so before the push failed previously, so I am very optimistic that it is fixed at this point.  Good luck to anyone out there still having a problem.

After having this issue for a few months in my corporate environment I have installed the update on a few of my users iPhones for testing purposes. One was a iPhone 5. One was an iPhone 4s and one was a regular iPhone 4. We shall see how iOS 6.1 does. *crosses fingers*

24 hours with 6.1 and my iPhone 5 on Verizon is still getting my Exchange 2007 mail pushed properly.

24 hours for me and so far exchange email has been pushing without a hitch.   This includes wifi at home and LTE and 3G while at work and enroute to work.  Until 6.1, I never went more than an hour or so before exchange push stopped.  I am cautiously optimistic that 6.1 is the "fix" that this thread has been waiting for since September.

Curious though -- why is this "fix" hidden in the release notes for 6.1 beta 4, and is not mentioned anywhere by Apple in the official release notes?  Why is this a secret?

So Superclay -- you started this long old thread.  Did 6.1 fix this for you?

Maybe we can finally close this thread?

working for me. Initially there was a delay ( VIP notif slower than outlook by 1 min or so) but now the push is coming earlier than outlook ( including VIP notification)

I have not had to reboot or do anything since I loaded 6.1

James:   I receive emails on my iphone now sometimes a few seconds before it appears in Outlook on my PC and sometimes a minute or so later (or a few seconds later).

So I think what you are seeing is normal.  May depend on how busy the exchange server is.

Updated to 6.1 about 24 hours ago or so and Push continues to work for Exchange.

I started having this issue a few days ago.  Installed 6.1 and it is still happening.  I use the "quick fix" at the beginning of this thread and it works for a couple emails.  Even wiped and set up as a new phone - still no pushing for me.  Any suggestions for what I'm doing wrong since it seems to be working for everyone else?

I do agree, why can Apple not tell people that they fixed it. Oh wait. It's Apple, they can never publicly admit failure!

For all those who did not see the beta 4 release notes, this is what it said in relation to this problem:

Fixed: In iOS 6.0, push email does not work consistently with Exchange clients. This was usually related to moving between Wi-Fi and cellular networks.

... and 6.1 does appear to have sorted the push exchange problems out (for me!)
