Jan 28, 2013 4:15 PM in response to elliottgraby elliottgra,The format is: Windows NT Filesystem.
I also have a USB hard drive that is MS-DOS (FAT32) formatted that works on both my Mac and PC when directly connected, but not through the airport.

Jan 28, 2013 8:27 PM in response to elliottgraby Bob Timmons,★HelpfulNTFS will not work with the AirPort Extreme, nor will a format of exFAT.
FAT32 should work...and works fine for me when I format a WD500GB drive as a test here. I cannot say why this is not working for you.
Normally, I use HFS+ also known as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) on hard drives here.
See this Apple support document for info on supported formats:

I am not able to use my FAT32 drive eitther, but I will check out that link and maybe reformat my drives.
Would you know if I would be able to read and write files to a Mac OS extended drive connected to my airport from a PC on my network?
Thanks again for all your help.

Jan 29, 2013 4:55 PM in response to elliottgraby LaPastenague,★HelpfulYou can read and write to the drive from a PC as the TC offers SMB network connection.. it makes no difference to the PC what internal format is used.. it is generally treated as an NT server disk.
