Look at the "More Like This" to the right --->>> Mail just stops sending/receiving for no good reason. It's a horrible email client. If you want something free and reliable, download Mozilla's Thunderbird. If you don't mind paying, I would give MS Outlook a try - I've used Entourage & Outlook since both first came out for the Mac and never have had a problem with either.
Use Mail if you must, but be aware that the problems seem endless and the solutions few and rare.

Thanks Barry. I appreciate your response. I had already tried this. A box came up showing mail rebuilding (I think), then a ton of emails showed up in my Inbox that were from 2009 and 2010, only. I deleted them all. Then I tried rebuilding again, but I see absolutely nothing happening. I know it takes a while, but nothing appears to be happening anymore when I rebuild. Now, every so often, Mail downloads a message to my Inbox that I had already seen, before this started happening. Very frustrating, indeed.

Thanks clintonfrombirmingham. How easy is it to import all mail folders from Mail 6.2 to either Mozilla Thunderbird or Outlook? I actually already have Outlook for Mac on my computer, (as part of MSOffice package from work) but just have never used it (v14.3.2)

Thanks for all of your suggestions and help, everyone.
Here's what I ended up doing, after wandering around these forums, and figuring stuff out.
Took Mail offline, closed it.
Went to my Library Folder. Copied Mail and Mail Downloads folders plus the file com.apple.mail.plist into a folder called MailArchive1, then did the same thing to a folder called MailArchive2, on external HD. (just in case). Then deleted these from original location.
Opened up Mail program, and although my Incoming/Outgoing settings , ports were changed when I set up account (went from pop to IMAC) ALL my incoming mail is back, and I'm now receiving emails in real time. Imported all my mail folders.
WHEW! It worked!

I had the same issue when upgrading to IO6 my yahoo email stopped working. I reset the device with no luck. Here is what worked for me. I deleted my email account, reset my device, then rebuilt my email account and email came in right away. I hope this helps becuase I was very frustrated at IO6 upgrade.
