Good morning - I am trying to set up ICloud on my up to date MAC laptop and it does not offer me the Icloud under settings. It has Mobile Me on the cloud icon and that will not let me in. Help???.
What version of OS X are you using on your Mac? iCloud requires Lion.
What version of OS X...you need 10.7.4 or later.
MobileMe is dead & buried.
10.6.8 - but I have downloaded all of the software updates. Is this laptop too old for I cloud?
When I go into settings, the only cloud is under a Mobil Me icon and when I go there it asks me for a password I no longer know. I can't update my MM password as MM is no longer.
If the llaptop cannot be upgraded to the required version of OS X Lion, then yes, it is too old for iCloud.
You need to find out if your Mac can update to Mac OS X 10.7.4 or later - it is a paid update available from the Mac AppStore, which you have on your current system.
Actually she needs to contact the Apple Online Store to buy Lion and the online store will then supply her with a redemption code to use in the Mac App Store on her Mac to download Lion. You cannot buy Lion directly from the Mac App Store.
Thanks for your help. I'll see what upgrade costs vs new laptop.
Depending on the Mac, it may not be necessary to buy Lion at all and go straight to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 directly from the Mac AppStore.
Either way, its still a paid update and downloaded from the Mac AppStore.
And at $19.99 a lot less than a new laptop! The requirements for Mountain Lion are here:
