When I pass my cursor over something on the screen, a little yellow bubble pops up with the exact same info that is on the screen. How do I make this go away?

And what program are you referring to?

tooltips—those little floating yellow tags of explanatory text that appear when your mouse hovers over a button.

You can change the default settings through the terminal application.

You  can slow them down from responding on mouse over, but you can not eliminate them.

By default, this value is set to 1,000 milliseconds (one second) for all applications.

Here is your fix -- from Applications/Utilities/

    Open the terminal and

    copy and paste:

defaults write -g NSInitialToolTipDelay -int 100000

of course hit the enter/return to execute the command

restart your computer for changes to take affect across the board, now there is a delay of 100 seconds.

Some software these tool tips are hard wired, and the commands need to be more specific.

To reverse this back to default setting , simply enter:

    defaults delete -g NSInitialToolTipDelay
