OK, iPhone 4S Version 6.0.1 (10A523) connected to Bluetooth speakes has the micro cutouts. I then tried my iPad2, same software version, same speakers, no cutouts.

That's because the iPad 2 doesn't have the hardware to run BT 4 (it runs BT 2.1) but the iPhone 4S does.

See the Technical Specs for each from Apple.

With iPad 3, IOS 6.0.1 and a Big Jambox, I have the same occasional 1/2 second dropouts when streaming music via WiFi from either Spotify  or TuneIn Radio.  I never have dropouts to the Big Jambox when playing music resident  on the iPad, only when streaming via WiFi.  No problems on iPhone 4 using IOS 5 or with an android cellphone on ICS using the same WiFi and Big Jambox.   This makes streaming via WiFi on IOS6 and sending it to a Bluetooth device useless.

I have two iPads, mini and 3rd generation. Both with the same BT technology, as you mentioned BT 4, and same iOS 6.0.1 version. I am experiencing cuts on my upgraded 3rd generation IPad, but not in the iPad mini. My conclusion, there is some incompatibility in the upgrade with the iOs 5 devices. From my point of view this should be fixed in a new upgrade or Apple should be give an alternative solution. This is not acceptable...

Exciting news, I have checked that my iPad mini has a different iOS version that could have fixed the problem, iOS 6.0.2, but I am asking to myself why apple has not yet released it for iPad.

One more thing, I did notice yesterday that if you go a bit further away from your router, aka, having a not so strong wifi signal, using bluetooth also affects the wi-fi connection.

It was bad enough that the iPhone kept disconnecting from the router.

I really really hope this is a software issue, cuz if there is a problem with all these broadcom chips, oh boy...

But bottom line is: it goes both ways. Affects bluetooth, and affects wi-fi. At least in my findings here.

I'm using an iphone 4s with an LG soundbar and noticed the cutout issues.  I read on another forum about switching the wifi off, wifi off problem solved

    brucemeacbook,

Since 2009, there have been several updates, including two new OS releases. Sometimes, some settings files are kept along due to specifics and some particular options might mess up with your network or bluetooth.

That is why, even with iPhones and iPads, people say to "reset network settings", which could also be done on a Mac.

Please be careful with these steps, you're dealing with settings files, and if you mess up, you might need to go single user in boot mode.

First, you could try to reset your bluetooth settings.

    1 - Open Finder

2 - Create a backup folder, lets say in your desktop named "MyOldBTPreferences"

3 - Menu "Go" --> "Go to Folder..." then type "~/Library/Preferences"

    4 - Search for "bluetooth"

5 - Move those files out of that folder to your "MyOldBTPreferences" folder

Now, lets get rid of the bluetooth System Preferences files

    1 - Open Finder

2 - Create a backup folder, lets say in your desktop named "MyOldBTSysPreferences"

3 - Menu "Go" --> "Go to Folder..." then type "/Library/Preferences"

    4 - Search for "bluetooth"

5 - Move those files out of that folder to your "MyOldBTSysPreferences" folder

Please do note that the "~" in the first step makes all the difference in the world, be careful.

Finally, restart your Mac, see if that works for you.

Also, some say that even network options might affect the bluetooth operation. I've never come across this situation, but if you ever want to "reset network settings" on your Mac, here are the steps to it:

    1 - Open Finder

2 - Menu "Go" --> "Go to Folder..." then type "/Library/Preferences/"

3 - Find the "SystemConfiguration" folder

4 - Rename that folder to lets say "SystemConfiguration.old" or whatever else you want to, as long as you rename it

    5 - Restart your Mac

This should reset all network settings, and get rid of older files and stuff you may not need anymore. It is always a good idea to keep the old folder as a backup in case something stops working and then you can just restore it.

Again, please be careful with these operations, and if you're comfortable executing them, let us know if it works for you.

Thanks  Morph21 for providing a solution to the problem. By resetting the network it would appear to have eradicated any of the glitches/cut outs etc streaming BT from my Iphone 4S. Even when thrashing wifi. Awesome, I was irked by those gaps in the music.
