Jan 30, 2013 3:03 PM in response to rccharlesby BChristi,Thanks very much. We use Afaria for our MDM platform but it doesn't appear that we can manage app file sharing locations. I'm assuming the MDM platforms that you listed can do that?

Jan 30, 2013 3:17 PM in response to BChristiby rccharles,★HelpfulI do not know the specifics. I know not know if the MDM platforms can do what you requested. Sorry, if I sounded more positive than I should have.

Jan 30, 2013 3:28 PM in response to rccharlesby BChristi,OK, thanks. Despite not being able to address the requirement I posted about, Meraki looks quite good. Afaria is extremely complex to set up and there seems to be limited knowledge of the product by SAP Australia. I'll consider evaluating Meraki to see if it could be a suitable replacement Afaria. Afaria is on premise, so on top of licensing fees there is also the ongoing operational costs to maintain the servers (apply patches/service packs etc.)

Jan 31, 2013 10:53 AM in response to BChristiby rccharles,Ways to distribute a file:
Enhancing the Application
If you can change the app, you could add support to the App to read the file from some server. Some hints here:
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/mo-ios-push/
-----------------------------------------
Syncing files:
For syncing pc or mac folders to iPad applications.
"Using SugarSync, you simply designate folders that you want to “sync” to the cloud and it keeps everything in sync anytime you make changes. This is the way cloud storage should be done and especially if you are using your iPad for buisness or for school."
http://www.tcgeeks.com/best-ipad-cloud-sync-app/
Doug says:
"This can be done with Dropbox as well using one of the many Dropbox addons…"
http://wiki.dropbox.com/DropboxAddons
The only potential downside is that so many apps for the iPhone/iPad come with Dropbox sync built in which makes it extremely convenient.
----------------------------------
more traditional file transfers
Look in the app store for accessing Windows File servers.
for example:

Configure WebDave on your server.
