I have  6 year old Mac Pro and would like to upgrade (or buy new) to run 64 bit software.  I upgraded my graphics board to ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB and 13 gig of RAM.  Is there anything else I could do to this computer to upgrade it, or wait for the next model?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7)

It is likely waiting until Intel releases new Server chips.

Anyone with more precise info than that is already under non-disclosure agreement, and cannot tell anyone.

Tim Cook is on record as promising something "really great" for MacPro owners in 2013. That said, he didn't promise it for the normal June hardware rollout, but talked about end of 3rd quarter. Kind of ***** for those of us with capex budgets that get cut off early in the 4th quarter every year.

Then just go to Intel and sites that follow Intel roadmap.

DDR4 is early 2014 and there is little for 2013 that is worthy of a totall change in motherboard design.

PC and server market may not be all the strong to invest into.

And 2011 AND 2012 saw a lot of extra research and over head in bugs and hurdles in many areas. Even Apple's SATA3 chip and interface on its products went through a lot  of iterations.

PCIe video still does well lwith 2.,1

You can add a lot already

Very few need more cores or slightly faster MHz

consumers did need a lot of help.

Nvidia and the GTX 600 series also took longer and more months after release to get any new product up to speed.

Really? really great ? or just something that isn't going to satisfy if there is an Early 2014. And normally t he Intel Dev Conf in the fall of the year is when you see what will be used in t he next  months. And what did they show and that we saw in Oct-Nov 2012 from Intel.
