After Startup, I often find the time and date missing from the Menu Bar. I haven't changed any setting there for ages. If I access Time and Date in Settings, the Display Time and Date in Menu Bar is unchecked. If I tick the box I get the Beachball. When it clears the box remains unchecked. Sometimes I have to Force Quit to get out of Settings.

The only way I can clear this is to Restart. The only time and date dependent App I've bought in recent times is Fantastical, can't think of anything else that might've caused this intermittent problem.

Any suggestions please?

Are there too many items on the menu bar?

Triple-click the line below to select it:

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services Show Info
from the contextual menu. An Info dialog should open.
Does the dialog show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
    What is the Modified date?
