I HATE the new iTunes! How do you copy a song from the library to the iPhone? Where's the help menu? Where is anything?

Hit the icon at the top left - show menu bar - view - show sidebar.

Many people haven't yet figured out the new default interface in iTunes 11. Expanding on what razmee said, to get to the iPhone information so you can sync, click the iPhone button in the header bar at the upper-right (mine says "iPad' but it will be in the same location for you):

Or go to the View menu and select "Show Sidebar" and the interface will then look substantially like it did in earlier versions. If you are running Windows and don't see the menus, go to the small icon with the arrow at the extreme upper left and select "Show Menu Bar":

I really appreciate the quick responses. Indeed, the sidebar is where most of the missing fictions are. However, it's ridiculous and frustrating to bury such a basic activity. Apple made it's name via human engineering with devices whose hallmark was being intuitively obvious. The new iTunes is anything but.

Nothing is "buried" in the sidebar. All the functions possible in iTunes are available without the sidebar through the very visible and easily clickable buttons/drop-downs. A few things may be easier with the sidebar showing, and some people just like it better since it's familiar. But it's not necessary. Everything is clearly accessible without it.

If, however, you would like to comment to Apple on the matter, you can do so via their feedback page:

Yes, except for the fact that almost all the Apple iTunes help files start out with instructions like, for example, "Select your iPod on the left side of the iTunes window under the Devices section to display your iPod preferences" (from HT4528). Without the Sidebar there is no left side of the window and no Devices Section. A bit confusing, eh?

Perhaps defaulting an old feature to OFF was not such a good idea.

I didn't say it was buried in the sidebar. I simply said it was buried, as the user has to first show the sidebar (which is hidden by default) in order to even know the function exists. Moreover, the intuitive method of dragging the track from the library into the iPhone doesn't work.

Here's an easy fix to the problem. In the source code, change SidebarVisible = False to SidebarVisible = True.

Clearly Apple needs to update their documentation and support articles; I don't dispute that at all. Why they haven't when iTunes 11 is so different is something I can't explain. It's seems like a really obvious thing to do and is dumb of them not to have done it immediately.
