I downloaded the software update for my IPhone (6.1) and when it asked for my password during the setup it kept timing out so I "skipped" this step, how do you go back and reset it up?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1

What passwork? For wifi? You can add: Settings > Wifi.

Other passcode? : Settings > General Passcode Lock

If you were updating using iTunes, disconnect and reconnect the iPhone. You may have to click "Check for Updates" again, but I think it will just retry without that.

Same problem here.  I am in the midst of updating my ISO to 6.1 too.  the update loaded and then it gives a message that it is complete and "to finish setting up icloud, imessage and facetime, enter the apple ID password for my account".

I enter my user name and password and it says 'signing in' the round thing spins and after a minute comes back with 'Could not sign in. The request  timed out."  My only choice is to press 'ok' and ask it to do it again or press 'skep this step' which the OP says they did.

If we skip this step, how do we come back and, as sberman suggests, 'it will retry without that' , I'm unclear what that means.  We've already downloaded the new IOS so I'm not sure what you mean it will retry without?  Sorry if I'm not tracking.. home with a tremendous cold.. my brain is fuzzy ;-)

Try Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID>tap and sign in

Hi Rick, I cannot do that as my iphone is stuck in the 'configure' step so I don't have access to anything in the phone.

Maybe if anyone would look at the (in response to... ) section we wouldn't have these posts

sorry Malignance, I did not even see that before.  I have no idea if it has been there or is a new feature.

It is clear my post irritated you, sorry.

    Hi Salon-vixen,

I called apple support as my phone has been hanging for an hour.  They said the server is swamped with people uipdating and to go ahead adn skip the step.  Then, when the update is finished, when we log into the following

    imessage

    itunes

    icloud

    app store,

we will be promted to login and when we do it this first time, we should not have to do it again.  the 'configure' step is to set this up for all 4 points of 'i' access.  But we can do each one, one at a time after we finish the update.

    Michelle
