I do so, but after turingn it on, in seveal minutes, the Airplay icons disapear everywere and then you can not setup the airplay. The only way that works for me, is connecting the Airplay just after turnning the function Off and On again in the Appletv Setup Menu...

Same here, I can only set up Airplay after turning Airplay off and on again on my ATV.
After that I can use Airplay normally.
I have to repeat this procedure when I want to use it again after I stopped using it for a while.
5.2 definitely broke Airplay as it was.
They need to fix this as fast as possible.

It seems that it's more people than just me, who's having this problem! I can't get my iPhone 4s or my iPad 4 to show the Airplay icon at all. And I have tried all the tips I could find inhere. Dear Apple: Fix it NOW! Please

Same here. I worked around the problem by setting autosleep to "never".
My wild speculation is that this issue may have something to do with the bonjour sleep proxy.
My older Apple TV2 (in my daughter's room) works fine; but that one is connected wirelessly.
The newer Apple TV3 (the one having problems) is connected by ethernet cable, and there is an Airport Extreme bridging the two networks.
I wish there was an option to disable to "look for automatic updates" on the Apple TV.
It is beyond annoying to find out after "carelessly" doing an "Update" that things stopped working.

I had an Apple TV purchased Nov 2012 and it came with ATV OS 5.0.1 loaded on it. The Apple TV Airplay worked flawlessly on all my iDevices, my G4 powerbook and my G4 Mac Mini. I didn't update the Apple TV at all because it was working perfectly.
Then this latest 5.2 update was released. Apple servers pushed the update constantly to my Apple TV causing my Satellite Internet provider to throttle my connection due to overages on low bandwidth caps. If Apple TV was unplugged nothing was ever downloaded but 2 mins after powering up the Apple TV, the download graph showed the update attempting to start over on another update.
I ended up getting the update downloaded. To prevent further ISP issues I installed the update successfully. Unfortunately, now none of my G4 PPC computers can use Airplay to the Apple TV. The icon shows in iTunes but it tries to connect and simply stops after 2 mins. I found out the hard way that this ATV 5.2 update is based on iOS6.1 and apparently is NOT compatible with PPC computers for Airplay use. My ipads and ipad touch devices can still use Airplay successfully. The ipads are still using iOS5.1.1 because iOS6 is incompatible with G4 PPC macs (to sync).
So any of you who have pre-Intel Macs and use Airplay with an AppleTV, do not update your ATV to 5.2 or you will lose that functionality.

It seems to work again, the airplay icons are back on my iPhone and iPad.
My Apple TV 3 was connected wired, I pulled out this connection and made a wireless set up. I gave the Apple TV an ip Address manually.
This gave some problems with the connection to the iTunes Store on the Apple TV, so I had only the computers and settings icons on the Apple TV.
After a few tries and fails I choose to generate an IP address automatically.
This still wasn't the solution because I still got no connection to the iTunes Store.
I set up a new connection for home sharing with my Mac and after a few times logging in on the Apple TV, the connection with the iTunes Store returned.
I think one of the problems for me was that I recently changed my Apple Id. The Apple TV kept showing my old apple Id, I had to change this to my new Id every time I was trying to login again.
I tried to let the Apple TV remember my new apple Id and after a few tries it did and restored the connection the iTunes Store and then all the icons returned on the Apple TV and AirPlay icons returned on my my phone and pad.
So things seem to be back to normal for now.
