My iPhone has been dead for nearly 2months! When it died it was fully charged still plugged in. Took to apple store and they checked the battery and said there was nothing else they could do. Just tried the hard reset and it work! Life saver thanks' phone is now charging and my fingers are still crossed that it will work. Thanks again.

It worked for me.  My phone suddenly just went dead while I was talking on it, and while it still had power.  Pressing the power button did nothing.  Plugging it in and pressing the power button did nothing. Leaving it plugged in overnight did nothing. Finally, I read this and did a hard reset and it worked.  I saw the Apple.  However, for the phone to go beyond the Apple, I needed to plug it in.  Then it quickly reloaded and was fine.  Oddly enough, it had actually fully re-charged while I left it plugged in over-night, but still wouldn't do anything until the hard reset.  Thanks for the info.!

My wife has been having the same problem, but it happens on a daily basis.  This began when we got a replacement iPhone 4 from apple (her phone speaker stopped working).  The Phone seemed to work fine for a week and then it began to die once or twice daily.  Apple support says the hardware test ok, and recommende a factory reset.  Still happenning so it's back to the local apple store tonight.

Pressing the Home and Power buttons at the same time is NOT working for me! Need help please!

My iphone had around 80% battery and suddenly went dead for nearly a week now. I tried every possible ways such as charging over night, taking sim off and put in again, pressing Home/Power button and even DFU. None of these is working with my iphone! Im so confused now.

Any help is appriciated! Many thanks!

    ***Plug your phone in.

Hold down the round off button on the front.

Kep holding it own---now unplug the phone fom the wall.

    Count to 10.

While continuing to hold down the round button--plug back into the wall.

After pluging in, release the round button.

    Should start booting up.

Change the battery is only thing that i didn't try its frustrating to open phone 15 min old and in my 5 yrs experience with idevices never happened i just read about it .

For all other people in future iPhone 4 8GB model MD128DN/A simm free iOS 5.1 if something happen like this:

    restore mode do not work,

    hard reset do not work

all other type of boot up or reset-restore do not work

Just return the phone if you can.

Just got in, tried to use my iPhone 4...................nothing!  totally dead.

Googled 'Dead iPhone', got to see the Apple discussions forum thing.

Simple hold down the Home button and the power at the same time for about 10 seconds, then boot up started

    Many thanks to AtlBigBoy
