oops, just a little TRIAL AND ERROR; boy I'm a slow learner!
I FIXED IT MYSELF-YIPPEE!
If anyone else happens to do "the wrong thing" with their Keychain Access, here is the fix for getting the LOGIN area to REAPPEAR:
-Open Keychain access,
-Go to top menu on desktop, next to the apple where the title shows: Keychain Access,
-Click on submenu: Keychain FirstAid
-Sign in with ADMIN password,
-Click on REPAIR (if you want you can click on Verify to see problems, but not needed, I don't think)
-Click on START, and it appears!
-I then inside my MAIL preference settings, had to click on Accounts, then Account Information, then Outgoing Mail Server, then from drop down menu EDIT smtp server list, then put in my password, and confirmed other settings were correct as before (per your ISP); clicked OK, then red dot to close preferences,
...then to confirm when MAIL window is open, go to top menu WINDOW (next to HELP), then submenu: Connection Dr, clicked on CHECK AGAIN, and all those red dots turned to green, and all working again-yippee!
