I want to delete Appleworks from iMac (OS X 10.8.2) but when I try I get msg saying can't open Appleworks anymore.

I've been deleting .cwk the many files one-by-one, but is there a quicker way to get rid of all Appleworks files from my computer?

Select them and drag them to the trash should do it. How did you try to delete AW?

Use spotlight to search for .cwk and click the 'File name' button (rather than 'Conctents'). It presumably won't find any files which don't include the extension in the visible name. Once you have a list click the top of the 'Kind' column to group the actual files together.

    In the Finder, hit command-J.

Click the Spotlight icon at top right, enter .cwk, click 'show all':

Pages can open AppleWorks 6 (not 5) Word Processing documents only: Numbers can open Appleworks spreadsheets; Keynote can open AppleWorks presentations.

Draw Documents can be opened directly only in EazyDraw (the more expensive version from their website, not the cheaper one from the Mac App Store, and you will need v4.0 'Retro' not the most recent version) or Intaglio (though this appears not to be able to handle very complex drawings).

Nothing will open databases or Paint documents.
