It is an iOS app and it cannot run on OS X or any other operating system.

To track a device from a computer, you need to use a web browser and log into your iCloud account (the same iCloud account you set up on the iOS device to enable tracking), and use the online tracking tools there.

On PCs and Macs, there's a different way to use Find my iPhone.

If you have a Mac with OS X 10.7.2 or later, you can turn on Find my Mac to track your Mac, if you want. To do it, open System Preferences > iCloud, and tick Find my Mac.

There isn't a Find my iPhone app for PCs and Macs, but you can access to it on http://www.icloud.com, logging in with your Apple ID and choosing Find my iPhone on the site

How inconvenient of Mac to develop such an awesome tracking system for their iOS devices, then leave it up their Mac users to track down those lost devices by having to log onto a help site to figure out how to operate the "find my iPhone" program.   Hey, only took me an hour here at the airport.  Of course, now as I'm boarding the plane, I know my phone has managed to travel five miles away while I figured it all out.

How about a Mac app and icon Apple?  For crying out loud.
