Can I use Batch Capture feature with HDV video in Final Cut Pro 5?

I finally got FCP 5 to ingest HDV video and audio from a firewire connection to a Canon Vixia HV40 camera (after much help from members of this community -- thank you!).

The only option I see is the "HDV Capture" window and a "Capture Now" style of ingestion.

Is it possible to use In-Out points for traditional, programmed "Batch" capture when dealing with HDV video?

Many thanks for any input.

To the best of my knowledge, the only capture features available are those in the limited/simplified HDV window.

In any case, it is much kinder to your camera's transport mechanism (and also a lot faster) to simply capture the whole of the tape and, if necessary, delete superfluous footage from within FCP.

Using the camera to play, stop, start and rewind tape whilst looking for suitable scenes puts a tremendous amount of wear on the camera and has caused the premature death of at least 2 cameras to my knowledge.

A decade ago hard drives were so small that you had to be careful and limit what you captured but that is no longer the case.

I have been capturing HDV into FCP5 from JVC GY-HD100's and GY-HD200's for several years by using the 720p easy set up and have full functions.
