Feb 1, 2013 11:27 AM in response to Pathfinder66by OGELTHORPE,What is the format of the Iomega HDD? Was it ever used on a Mac before or a PC? If a PC, you will have to open Disk Utility>Erase and format it Mac OS Extended (Journaled). If you want to use it for both Mac and PC then format it FAT or EXFAT using the PC.
Remember, formatting erases all data on the disk.
Ciao.

Feb 1, 2013 1:11 PM in response to OGELTHORPEby Pathfinder66,Ah. That may be the problem right there. It was used with a PC before this. I don't have the PC anymore (it flamed out last fall), just the MAC. Can I still format it FAT or EXFAT?

Feb 1, 2013 1:20 PM in response to Pathfinder66by OGELTHORPE,It is best to format FAT and/or EXFAT on a PC. Otherwise problems may be encountered with the Mac. If you are going to use it strictly with the MBP, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) is best and can be done using Disk Utility.
Ciao.
