The iPhone 5 will need a USB port on your MacBook to connect the cable. All MacBooks have USB ports.

What do you mean it doesn't have the port... It's a USB port... If your Mactook doesn't have a USB port, then I don't know what it is, but it's not a Macbook...
Let her set it up herself using her own computer. You can not sync or manage media on an iPhone from more than one iTunes library at a time. If you add music to it using your computer, that music will have to be erased before she can add music to it using her own computer.

Oops my bad, must of been the pink otterbox I purchased with the iphone5, Its so cute pink and all and the parts are smaller. not really, not trying to sound like a chauvanist and by any means ladies please do not be offended. I have been wanting to get her an iphone for a while now and I am happy she is also. Thank you for your support. Should of took my glasses off or paid more attention. My bad, and thanks again.
