I'd be inclined to think it's a problem with your network, it works fine for me, albeit it can take a minute or so to load large libraries.

Checked the network. All seems in order, and I haven't had any problems other than this issue with the iOS Video app. Anything in particular I should be looking at?

Do you have the same problem on both the iPad and iPhone.

Yep, both devices, and even on another iPhone 4 restored to factory settings. So if it is my (and my friend's network) that is the issue, what specifically should I be trying? Should I be turning on/off firewalls/forwarding ports/chanting slowly over boiling pots of newt-eye stew (always worth a try when networks become possessed by evil house gremlins)?

Try creating a new user account on the computer and see if it re-occurs with just one or two titles in the movie category.

Tried a new account and only one song in the iTunes Library, but the results were the same -- something loads to the 50% mark and then stops. Also tried other iPhones and iPads in the family. Same results. Don't know what's up, but I give up. Not really an issue in this house as we all use Plex for media watching/listening, but sure would like to know why the Video app on the iOS devices isn't working.
