Mail frozen, the wheel is spinning since October 2012. How can I reinstall Mail?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2), iMac 2.7GHz Intel Core i5

    You would have to reinstall all of OS X to reinstall the "Mail app.  If you are using Lion 10.7 as your version of OS X, then you could reboot while holding down the Command - R keys to boot into the Lion Recovery Partition.  There, you could use its version of "Disk Utility" to "Repair Drive"' your internal "Macintosh HD" to correct any corrupt Mail files, and then you could "Repair Permissions" also.  If that doesn't solve the problem, then in the Recovery Partition you could select to "Reinstall Lion" to get a fresh install.
