When my wife got an iPhone I deleted her old mobile number from my contacts. That number was apparently saved by my iPhone, because when I start typing my wife's first name, the number

is now offered to me as "other".

How can I permanently eradicate this nuisance "other" number? It is no longer in my contacts.

Where does iTunes back up my iPhone on my PC? This seems to be secret information.

45 minutes on the phone with Apple Care remedied the problem, but only for a day or two.

Help with this issue would be deeply appreciated.

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1

hit the blue button next to the name when you're typing it out, and delete the old contact is an option on next screen.

When you are typing your wife's name, in which app are you doing that?   Messages?  Mail?

Also - are you sycnhing your contacts with iCloud, gmail, etc?    You may need to delete the # there as well to fully remove it from your phone.
