To my experience (JMHO) loudness is not sign of hard drive failing - clicking sound is. Loudness is just a sign of hard drive work. Perhaps your hard drive is getting worse, there are programs that allow to check it. One that I use is Crystaldiskinfo.

crystaldiskinfo says everything is ok, theres nothing out of the ordinary...
just want to know and fix why itunes makes the drive loud when downloading apps only.

you don't want hard drive to work loud, look into solid state drive.

thank you for the help however you're misunderstanding.
as per my first post; I already have an SSD.
the drive is only loud when downloading apps in itunes.
if i download anything else, or do anything else, even defrag, etc its quiet!
can anyone else shed some light on this?
