Hello, did you check the Downloads folder?
Find Any File...
Hold Option or alt key when selecting Find to Find All.
Search for Name Contains... pixel , or such.

Try purchasing a free app from the Mac App Store and see what happens. Essentially it needs access to the Applications folder, so if you have experienced any permission issues with that folder, you may want to consider running Disk Utility and repairing the permissions for Macintosh HD.
If you think it's Dock-related, try dragging another item to your dock...either another application from Applications, or a folder right next to the Trash (NOT in the Trash).
Start with the basics, restart the iMac and check your Purchases in the MAS to see if Pixelmator is listed.

Thanks, I'll try that and hopefully it'll help me find my app.
@Kalob - I'll try that as well.

I am soooo confused as to why we would be looking for a MAS install in the download folder?
Applications folder is always the default.

For some reason it didn't even show up in either folder, and usually for installs or downloads, it'd be either or. This is so confusing.....
