I am going to purchase a mac mini soon. Apple says that memory on this machine can be upgraded to the max of 8 GB. Upon searching the internet such as macforum and other sites, say that additional memory up to 16 GB can be added. The reason that I would want this much memory is that I am a college student that does a lot of research and paper writing, plus Microsoft Access is not made for Mac, so I also have Parallels 7 on my current macbook that I will transfer over in order to utilize this program.

As much money as a Mac costs, I don't like the idea that upgrade options are limited. I want my mac to handle multiple windows and applications running without slowing down.

Can anyone help?

Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)
