My new (Jan 2013) iMac does not wake up from sleep when sitting for a long time (over an hour) and will not start up. The only way for me to get it started is to disconnect the power, plug it back in and then it will start up normally. Any idea what's wrong?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), will not wake up from sleep

Firstly, check System Preferences>Bluetooth and click on the Advanced button. Make sure there is a tick against 'Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer'.

If there is and you are having this wake from sleep problem try this: System Preferences>Energy Saver and set 'computer sleep' to 'never'.

Some users (me included) have had the problem you describe intermittently. The Energy Saver 'fix' solves it for me until it hopefully gets properly resolved in a future OS update.

Below is a picture of how mine are set. Set like this I'm yet to have a failure to wake from sleep (I probably shouldn't have said that ).
