You may try downgrading, but it works fine on mine

Thanks for the response but what works for you? Both the battery and pinch and zoom? What specs does your laptop have? Is it the summer 2010 MBP, 13", with SSD, with 4GB of RAM? If so, then please tell me if you did a clean install or upgraded? I am aware that it *should* work otherwise I wouldn't be posting here.
Please give more details.

The only way to downgrade is to Wipe the Complete Drive by Re-Partitioning it as One Partition. Otherwise the Recovery HD partition is left. Then use your Time Machine backup you made just before you did the Mt Lion upgrade. If no TM backup then it is a Reinstall of the OS and programs.

(1) Have you looked at Activity Monitor, All Processes, sorted by CPU to see if any processes are going hard enough to account for the battery problem?
(2) I don't think pinch to zoom in finder exists in Mountain Lion.
