If it's on your computer then I assume that it's in the Books part of your iTunes library. To get it on the iPad, connect the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of its iTunes (if you are on iTunes 11 on your Mac then you can enable the sidbar via option-command-S), and then on the right-hand side on the Books tab select that audiobook and sync it to your iPad.
When there are audiobooks on the iPad you should get an Audiobooks option under the More button at the bottom of the Music app.

There is no right-hand side on the Books tab and no way to select. Also saying I've downloaded everything for this apple ID. Sigh

Do you have the iPad connected to your Mac and the iPad 'device' selected on the left-hand sidebar of your Mac's iTunes ? If you don't have the left-hand sidebar showing (by default it's hidden on the current version of iTunes) then you can enable it via option-command-S. With the iPad 'device' selected on that sidebar e.g. :
there should be a series of tabs on the right-hand side of the screen, one of which should be Books (there should be other tabs for selecting and syncing music, films, apps etc) e.g.
