Hi All,

It seems my bookmarks from Safari (v.5.06 on OSX 5.8) have not been syncing to my iPhone.  I see that bookmarks no longer sync directly between a wired sync between the Mac and the iPhone since iCloud became operational.  I have a feeling that my OS and Safari versions are too old for this to work anymore.  Other posts in this forum have advised to turn bookmarks sync OFF in the phone's iCloud settings and this allows turning the bookmarks sync ON in the iTunes "Info" tab.  But when I try that, and initiate a manual wired synch I get a message that says: "Syncing with this iPhone will change more than 5% of your bookmarks on this computer".  That doesn't sound right; I want to update the bookmarks on the iPhone from the  Mac mainly.  I rarely add bookmarks to the iPhone directly.... almost always to the Mac.

Any thoughts on this?

If the bookmarks on your Mac are up to date, you could replace the bookmarks on your phone with the bookmarks on your Mac.  To do this, open iTunes and disable automatic syncing by going to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and checking "Prevent...from syncing automatically".  Then connect your phone to your Mac, go to the Info tab of your iTunes sync settings, confirm that you have selected "Sync Safari Bookmarks" under Other, then under Advanced...Replace information on this iPhone, check "Bookmarks".  Then click on Apply at the bottom to sync your phone.

You're welcome.  Attempting to sync data with bog iTunea and iCloud can cause problems (often creating duplicates).  Unless you need to sync you data using iCloud to multiple iOS devices you should probably choose Cancel and leave off.  If you do need to Sync with iCloud select Merge to upload the bookmarks on your phone with iCloud.

Syncing should be bi-directional, however this may not work properly if you have iCloud syncing also enabled.

You're welcome.  If your  Mac isn't running OS X 10.7.2 or higher you aren't syncing it directly with your iCloud account and merging your bookmarks with iCloud will have no effect on your Mac.  If you're concerned, you can always open Safari on your Mac and export a copy of your bookmarks to a .html file on your desktop first.  (I'm not at my Mac right now but I believe it's on the File or Edit menu.)
