Jan 2, 2013 10:45 PM in response to Boo 3by pinkcandy827,Okay seriously this is so frustrating, I don't remember my old security question answers, and when I got a new iPhone and computer, it wouldn't let me purchase anything from the iTunes store unless I answered the security questions. I went online to find out how I could change them, I went to 'Manage My Account' and everything, but it freaking required me to put in the security answers I had forgotten, to change them!! Apple needs to seriously create a much simpler way to do this. It's extremely irritating.

Jan 4, 2013 8:44 PM in response to carl wolfby Jacodile,When people complain that they have "forgotten" security questions - what's your mother's maiden name, what is your hometown, on which street did you grow up - you become suspicious that the device has been stolen. Why should Apple make it easier to make use of stolen property?
Because those aren't the questions they are asking. They are asking for obscure things that could have any number of possible answers on any given day. Not everyone remembers the name of thier first album - along with the correct spelling, syntax, etc. Personally, I would never select a question that didn't have a discrete answer, but kids don't always think those things through.

Jan 5, 2013 2:35 PM in response to GuardianAngelsby JZoltek,This solved my problem in about ten minutes of talking, very helpful. They just ask you stuff such as your serial number, email, etc, and then they let you reset it.

Let's assume that the question that are asked are obscure - they aren't, but play along for just a few minutes. The answer to an obscure question does not need to be related to the question. Let's use you example, "What is the title of the first album you purchased just after you turned 15?" Your answer can be anything, for example, your mother's maiden name, the number of the fingers on your left hand, or the city in which you were born. Pretty simple, nes pa? Too, anyone who answers an obscure question, and takes no steps to mitigate the inconvenience caused by a momentary lapse of reason - making a note of the answers, for instance - richly deserves the ensuing inconvenience. IMHO.

Feb 4, 2013 6:05 AM in response to carl wolfby Johnny-X,I am very good about saving my passwords, I have Lastpass on my computers, phone, and tablet. I don't remember ever setting those questions originally and mysteriously didn't save the answers. Further, I KNEW my account password but Apple wouldn't let me sign in without providing answers to the questions. In my case, I think Apple just "enabled" the questions on my account without having any answers. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I was finally able to regain access to my account after fumbling through different Apple support sites until one of them magically allowed me to sign in (using my known password!) and then I reset the questions.
The real issue here is that Apple seems to have no policy for recovering your account if the answers to the questions are lost or forgotten. Do they expect users to forfeit all of their purchases?
