Good job all. Almost back to doing what I was supposed to be doing last Thursday - just hand-holding a few who haven't run their Software Updates.

    Good thread.

    Have a good day,

The new update seems to work...the fix using terminal did not work for me, I was on the phone with apple help also..could not figure why it would not work..But, I was able to remove the Xprotect.meta.plist from the core services folder as suggested and that did work...

Updating java with this new update has added that file back. Java applets now working again under 10.6.8 without fixes....

I suspect you are going to have to contact that third party to get them fixed.

Not sure what commands you are trying to run, but if they didn't come from Apple they are dangerous to use and won't solve this problem.

I'm sure they did, which is exactly why I told you to contact the developer and let him know they don't work any more. Nothing you do is going to get them running again, unless you are willing to erase your hard drive and run an old, unsafe system.

Trying to work around the problem isn't worth the risk, in my opinion and if there were an easy solution to this we would have heard about it by now. There is a reason that Oracle, Apple and every security organization in the world is telling all of us not to use dangerous code.

Thanks for your reply MadMacs0.You mean there should be change in Applet code to solve this problem?

The only one that will work is Java SE 6 1.6.0.45.

You have to be using OS X 10.7.3 or above to move to Java SE 7.
